Happy Earth Day!
On Sunday I spent the day at a nature park, realizing I hadn’t given a thought about spring yet. Leaves are budding, birds are chirping, the miracle of life is happening among thousands of creatures and I. . . somehow missed it. Looking at a six foot area, I realized how little I knew about what was occurring there–bacteria, molecules, millions of different chemical interactions just to produce a puddle of water and some shrubs. God, on the other hand, knows everything. Is that cliche to you? God. Knows. Everything. And, God made everything. Even if, by some miracle, we learned everything, how would we ever make anything from nothing, let alone everything?
Appreciating God in nature is humbling, and that’s an important experience for us to have. The Bible says that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Want some grace? Be amazed at this fungi.
Question: What keeps us from being amazed at God’s creation?
